First Place Program Overview
Welcome to First Place, a Christ-centered health program that teaches good nutrition & healthy living! All First Place sessions are the same as far as the 9 committments listed below, but differ only in the specific bible study and memory verses.
The First Place Program is built on nine commitments that, when followed, will draw you into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. These commitments are not listed in order of priority or importance. Each element is essential in order for First Place to transform all areas of your life: spiritual, physical, mental and emotional.

  1. Attendance - Attend class to be accountable and to encourage others. Click here for a schedule of classes for the current session.
  2. Encouragement - Encourage another 1st place member each week!
  3. Prayer - Pray daily, preferably in the morning!
  4. Bible Reading - Spend time in God's Word daily (ex. Read a psalms or proverbs each day!)
  5. Bible Study - Renewing Hope
    Renewing Hope" helps readers get back on track toward their goals and to find energy for the daily challenges in the restoring hope that God offers.
  6. Scripture Memory Verses - Hide God's Word in your heart! The verses to be memorized vary each session and are included in the Bible Study book.
  7. Live-It Plan - This is a healthy food plan based on the food pyramid. Details are described in the First Place Members Kit.
  8. Food Journal - For accountability, record what you eat!
  9. Exercise! - Include a mixture of Aerobic, Strength, and Flexibility, at least 3 times per week.

For our sessions at Bethany, there is no cost above the cost of the actual program materials (ie, no administrative cost or cost for special foods or anthing of that nature). The new member's kit is a one time purchase the first time you join a session of First Place. The Bible Study book is the only material that will need to be purchased for each 13 week session.
